n00b needs memory card help****911

Hi,

I'm a pc gamer and new to psx. I bought a console on ebay cheap and thought I'd give it a try, as the games for the PC have real crap lately ie:, UT2k3 and Unreal II. I also bought a 32mb memory card, but the instructions don't tell me how to "Format" the card so I can't use it. I tried to erase function but it didn't help. IT has small "LED" alpha/numeric and two buttons on the face.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.........
