error reading disc.....

I have a V4 PS2 that's in very good condition. Recently, I installed a no solder mod chip in the system. I just burnt Vice City, and attempted to load the game. I am using Action Replay 2. I successfully loaded the game and began to play it. Shortly after my first mission, I was driving down the street and the game stopped, and white text on the bottom of the screen read "error reading disc......" not exactly sure what it said. I ejected and put in the original, and was able to resume play from there. I do know that the original I copied was pretty scratched up, but it had no problems copying. I am using Ritek DVD's (not the 4x ones). Any advice?

Could be a bad burn because of the scratched original or your v4 laser. Try getting ahold of a better original and try burning again.

A common problem with the version 4 ps2. Unfortunately GTA Vice is a very laser intensive game and the version 4 laser most of the time isn't up to the job, even when using the best media.

Several things u could try:

1. Recalibrating ur laser ( not advised as any improvement tends to drastically reduce ur laser life.

2. Try to get a back-up on HK Silver as these have better reflectivity than dvd-r.

3.(Recomended) Sell ur version 4 ps2 and get a second hand version 7 ps2 and ur problems will be over.

If u r in any doubt then try backing up the getaway and running that up. Bet it doesn't even get to the game.

Regards

Hope this helps!!

Shawn, I had the same "loading" errors. I had to re-burn at 1x and it worked fine. What speed did you burn at?

HK Silver is a pressed copy of a game. We're not gonna tell you where to get them on this forum because it breaks the rules against Piracy. But if you wish to play a backup and protect the original, this is the best form of backup. Available in Hong Kong ot China usually.
