ps2 cdr
i also have a magic3.1 true blue which will not boot ps2 cdr burned from clonecd. it does however recognize ps1 backups burned on same media. i've reworked the modchip on the mobo 3 times now, and am convinced it's a bug on the magic. i'm completely happy how magic3.1 handles dvdbackups, booting originals can be a bitch (the hardwired toggle off the +5V kills the station on 'off' position)
at this point i'm waiting and hoping some clever fellow is out there working on a ps2 bootloader, so many ps2 cd games, emulators, and divx players can simply be put onto a dvdr

This is one reason why everybody recommends spending a few extra bucks for a Messiah 2.....
