Panasonic SC-DT300 DVD Home Theater

I use a Sony DRU 500a writer and so can use most media. I have recently ordered the Panasonic SC-DT300 Home Theatre system and have heard some funny rumours about compatability. It goes along the lines of the unit will only play DVD - R burned on a panasonic writer.

Is this true ?

Anyone succesfully used DVD - R or DVD + R on this player but burned on an alternative writer ?

From what i know i would say that is a bunch of BS. At the worst case senario they would make it only able to read panasonic media but not only work with there own burners.
