Question Elemental Gimmick Gear RGB fix

I have this game in .cdi format and I can not apply the rgb/pal fix patch with success. "applyppf" tool says me the size of the file is incorrect and I click "yes", then I burn the cd and after the logo of sega the screen becomes black and return to bios of dreamcast.
Anyone can tell me how can I modify the boot of the game to remove that protection?

Well, I believe it's not impossible. Seems as if some guy ripped it's burned game back to CDI, but you didn't say if it's selfboot or not. First you should open the CDI in CDMage (hope you know that program). If he just ripped a non-boot CD to CDI, things are easier, since you should only find a Mode1-Track in the Image. If that's the case, you just have the wrong Image-Type to apply the patch.
The way to go would be extrakting the Images contents (you can do that with CDMage) and create a BIN out of it. AFAIK WinISO or WinImage can do that.

If the game is selfbooting, you will most likely have 2 sessions in the CDI-Image. Either one Audio- and one Mode2-Track, or just two Mode2-Tracks. If that's the case, it becomes really problematic. You will be forced to turn your selfbooter back to an non-booter first and recreate the IP.bin
There is a guide on http://xeal.cjb.net/
that explains how to.

But be warned, this just works in theory. The is no guaranty, that your final Bin-Image has the correct size for applying the patch. Most likely you will have problems.
But that's the only way I can think of, and you should give it a try.

Oh BTW, Megalexxx. I patched Looney Toons, that I had an RGB-Issue with, with your Patcher. Unfortunately it didn't work. The Screen remains black and I couldn't find any fix for it. Any other idea what I could try to make it work?

Send it to me too.
Don't forget to specify the game's name with the 1st_read.bin.

Hey Megalex,

I have sent you the file. While you examine it I will try to build the original .BIN file: "KAL-EGG.BIN" from the .cdi selfbootable and I hope the patch works well now.
