you can either use a prog such as xiso to create a iso or you can just create a data dvd from the xbox game files you ftp'd from the xbox dvd drive.
i use recordnowmax 4.50 select create data dvd from menu then copy and paste game data to the burn window and press burn.
sit back and wait has worked on 29 backups so far

i first started off trying to backup by making xiso's it didn't work very well for me.
this is the method i use now to backup my xbox games.

1. connect to xbox using evox and flash fxp.
2 create a temp folder on my pc and transfer all game data from xbox dvd drive to this temp folder
3. start recordnowmax 4.50 and cancell the wizard
4. select file / new / data dvd.
from the top left hand menu bar.
5. when the burn window opens. i minimise recordnowmax and double click the temp file i previousley created (enter the file as normal)
6. select all game data in this file and copy it using left click on the mouse.
7. maxamise recordnowmax and paste all data in to the burn window.
8 press burn button and insert a blank dvd.
sit back and wait for burn to complete.

this method has worked perfectley for me each time and i have created 29 succesfull xbox backups with no problems at all.
hope this helps

later dude

also as a result of this method i have found that i can create a direct dvd to dvd copy of a backup from my dvd-r drive without the need of the xbox but you will still need to connect to the xbox to backup original games

i always use the method i described above so i can read the game directley on my pc and if needed i can backup directley from this disc instead of connecting to the xbox etc
