Magic 3 and eject problems

I need help with Magic3 modchip...After the installation my ps2 (v4) works great but sometimes (rarely) the eject button doesn't work correctly! If I push the button the tray comes out, but pressing it again it won't close..so I have to close it manually and then press eject, after that the ps2 will look for the cd.
Anyone can tell me what to do?
thanx *mario*

I am not sure about fixing the prob but have you tried resetting or turning off your PS2 when it wont close then boot back up and see if it will close? It's not a good idea to force the tray in manualy. Could cause some problems down the road.

Yeah..I know that forcing the tray isn't a good idea..but it's the only way to close it!I tried to turn off from the rear switch but nothing changed,I don't think it's a soldering problem but i have no other clues.

It has to be an install problem. Did you install it yourself?

No my friend done the job for me.
One question: does the lenght of the cables affect the efficiency of the chip?

I use to have a problem similar to that. The tray would come out slowly or in sessions(a little bit at a time) and sometimes it wouldn't come out or go in at all. Turns out the problem is in the install. When I took it apart and looked at it, 1 of the 5 or 6 wires that u are suppose to solder onto the boards back side has crossed over to another point. I didn't think about it at first, but when you put the metal plate back onto the circuit-board it crunches or flattens the wires if they are standing up. Which is why 1 of the wire touched another contact point on the circuit-board. I would have your friend recheck the solder points if I were you.

I got similar problem, but my case, the sliding door is a bit dirty, so I open the dvd rom, cleaned it up, and screw them back, and now it is working again...

Ok..I will check all of your suggestions.
But probably it's an installation problem!
Thanks to all!
