BG is on a distinguished road
Booting Playstation 1 backups & Playstation 2 originals

• Power off the PS2 for 5 seconds
• Boot as normal - no special method

How to boot Playstation 1 originals

NOTE: This technique simply deactivates the chip

• Insert your PSX original
• Power off the PS2 for 5 seconds
• Press reset for 1 second (Until blue light comes on) then let go
• Game will now boot as normal - the chip is deactivated

How to boot PSX imports

• Insert your PSX original
• Power off the PS2 for 5 seconds
• Turn on the machine
• Press eject just before the PSX LOGO SCREEN
• Swap with your PSX import backup
• Press eject to close the tray
• The game will now load

Yes.... The NEO will FRY your laser.... There is no way to tell how long it will last.... May last 1 month, may last 2 years.... BUT eventually your PS2 will be a very expensive paperweight.... Trash the neo chip and get a direct boot chip....

How do we know that direct boot chips will not kill our ps2's since we are not even using them for a year or so?
I do not dissagry that a neo chip kills ur ps2 since i ve got one and after 8 months my dvd-r backup freez and only cd-rs play, and i know that the neo chip had specific laser probs, that why i have ordered a messiah 2. After all you can never be sure when you mess arround with ur ps2.

A new laser is £40(ish) - most of us save far more than that! I know unchipped machines that have died just after the warranty has expired!
