Still no response ? Looks like I'll have to try and help you, young sailor !
As of now, there still is no v1.1 nocd. If you want to use that patch and still play without the cd, your only option is to use clonecd to make an image of the disc and mount that using daemon tools. The game is not protected, so that should definitely work. Don't expect a v1.1 nocd to appear, the game is way too low profile for that. It could happen, but you could also keep waiting until the sun burns out. The above method should work, if you have any questions ask away.

Start by downloading CloneCD and Daemon Tools. Install both programs, just use the default install values. Now run CloneCD. Click on the first icon, "Read To Image File", then select the cdrom drive with the game cd and press "Next". In the next dialog, select "Game CD" and press "Next". In the next dialog, click on "Browse..." and enter the filename of the image file you will crate. I suggest "Virtual Skipper 2". When you press "OK", the program will start reading in the entire cd and make three files on the hard disk, called "Virtual Skipper 2.ccd", "Virtual Skipper 2.img" and "Virtual Skipper 2.sub". The "Virtual Skipper 2.img" file will be big, probably more than 700Mb.
Next step is clicking on the "Virtual Daemon Manager" icon in your system tray. If no daemon tools icon is visible, you'll have to start it first. Left click on the icon in the system tray and select "device 0", you will get a dialog box. Load the "Virtual Skipper 2.ccd" file in that dialog box and you will now have an extra drive letter, "F:", "G:" or "H:". Change to that drive letter in windows explorer and click on the setup executable to start the virtual skipper install. You will probably have to reinstall the game in this way, so that the game will use this new virtual drive to check for the cd instead of the real cdrom drive. After the install, you can use the 1.2 patch to update the game, it should work now. If you have any problems, let me know but tell me then what goes wrong and any error messages you get. |
