supercomputer? export laws?

out of curiosity, what ever happened finally in that story that everyone probably read in all the game magazines and websites about the ps2 being powerful enough to be considered a national threat so there would be tight export/import laws on it. the headlines for the story if i remember correctly were something like "sony launches nukes from its new game console" i dunno why i just remembered that, but does anyone know or care?
