Secret Service: In Harms Way
Another case of a game that otherwise looks ok, but secretly connects to the internet while being launched. Of course in multiplayer mode this is neccesary, but in single player mode if you block internet access the game becomes unplayable giving a "server error connection failed" error message.
Does anyone know of a solution or work around for this? I have contacted the software developers, but likely will get little assistance other than some lame excuse. |

Their answer...
Although I got the following response from the devlopers I would still appreciate any work around that anyone can offer..... other than "disconnecting my modem" .
Attention: Lame response below... ... "I don't think the program is trying to 'secretly connect to the internet.' It certainly doesn't make much of an effort to be secret about it... The developers tell us it's because the multiplayer and single-player game both use the same engine. If it is a security concern they recommend that you disconnect your modem after the game has started. That game has been out for a year. If they have not done a patch for it now I doubt that they are planning one." |
