Messed up laser adjustment

I tried everything to get xbox backups as seen in past posts. I followed the guide to tweak the laser potentiometer. It told me to turn counterclockwise till you get to 950 ohms. Most of the time it was fluctuating at 2 or 3 megaohms or 0 ohms (Never other numbers less than 1 megaohm). Perhaps the 950 ohms was really 950 Kohms so I got it close to it. When I read it again it was random back at 2.5 Megaohms or more. UGH!

I put it all back together. It seems to load original xbox games and original DVD's but not DVD-R movies (it did before). Perhaps I messup up the adjustment or maybe the Enigma modchip is going bad (or never really worked fully).

A thought came to mind which someone may know the answer to. You have to solder a pad either up or down on the Enigma PCB for your bios type. What happens if you choose the wrong solder pad and choose the other bios. Perhaps this is why I am having so many problems.

I think I will return my refurbished XBOX back to Funcoland and get another as I got the $20 year warentee. Has anyone done this. Do they check it see if it has been opened or just exchange it?

Thanks for all the comments...
