Warcraft III backup
Hi,
I've recently read some posts here before attempting a backup of my war3 cd. I have a liteon 24102b. I tried to copy with clonecd using clonyxxl set at securom *new* even though clony told me there was no protection. This made me a coaster. Then I tried using Cdmate as I read a post saying someone had success this way. The result was the same. Any suggestions? |

Ok, I think I've gotten a little closer to making me a backup.
I installed Blindwrite Suite and read to an image. Now, when I mount the image with Daemon tools it runs perfectly, regardless of wether securom emulation is checked or not. So....would it not be wrong to say that I have created a working image? There is still a problem though. After writing this image to a disc, I still have the same results as before. I don't understand, the image works fine. Someone Please Help. Last edited by hohner; 28-07-2002 at 09:32. |

i've backed-up a working copy with CloneCD, i use SecuROM profile i got from CDFreaks. and yes, the CloneCD image works even with SecuROM emulation OFF in Daemon Tools.
my old burner, Yamaha 8824SZ fail to backup but my new burner, TDK CyClone 40x/12x/48x (LiteOn 48125W oc) success. |

I tried using clonecd (latest version) and made a copy which will install but not play.
I tried using cdmate (latest version) and had the same result. I tried using blindwrite (latest version) and had the same result. Though if I check image with daemon tools (securom emulation NOT checked) the blindwrite image works, with the other two burning progs, it didn't work. It still fails though when I burn back to disc. I tried using the hide cdr feature but this didn't help. A little annoyed, read a lot of posts saying how good Liteon is, nothing it can't copy they said, so I made the mistake of buying one. Never buy hardware with big brand names thinking it will be better, I had a no name cdrom which could read sub channel data, I upgraded to the latest Sony drive and it can't even read sub channel data. What a waste of money. Last edited by hohner; 28-07-2002 at 21:37. |

VLuka,
Shouldn't it work though? If I can mount the image with daemon tools (NO emulation settings checked) and the program works, shouldn't it be safe to say that I should be able to write this image to a disc and create a working copy? Sorry for not catching on, just a bit confused about this one. Thanks. |

So yeah, maybe this is me not quite getting a grasp on how to use programs that I got for my backup, but I backed up Warcraft III, and then got the Map Editor to work with the v1.01 No Cd/blahblah program, but the game itself just doesn't feel like working. I get a message along the lines of "Couldn't open Game.dll."
Is there something I'm missing here? Thanks. |

Warcraft III backup
I have managed a working backup using both Liteon 48125W & LG 8320B writers, both with Clone CD 4! If the backup does not play using burner, try playing in ordinary CD Rom!!

The problem lies not with the read/write settings but with the Liteon LTR24102b. Although many people say they have used this drive to make themselves a copy, any bets they READ the original with a different drive.
I read somewhere that there is a bug with this drive affecting SecuRom2 protection. So it looks like I'll have to be using a no-cd patch for a while, at least until there is new firmware available, or until I replace my shitty Sony CDROM with one that can read sub channel data. |
