Backup of Neverwinter Nights Disk
I took my Neverwinter Nights disks and attempted to make backup copies so I can put my original ones away on the shelf. After I copied the play disk, I can't get the game to play using it. I can use the original and it works fine.
Does the disk have some sort of protection on it? Can I get around it somehow? Thanks. IanthePez |

It has Securom protection. Some have said that the latest version of CloneCD can make a working backup. I tried an old version and it knew it was a copy.
If you don't wan to make new copies, you can make your copied disk(s) work using a program called FantomCD (install it and enable the Securom fix in the options). Otherwise you'll need a fix for whatever version you're trying to play (the latest is 1.19 and there's a fix released but not on GCW yet). |

Thanks
Well, I had already tried cloneCD, although I'm not sure it was the latest version.
I downloaded fantomCD and all is working well. Thanks for the help. |

Newest version of daemon tools has updated thier securom emulation as well, meaning it now works again. Kudos for the Dtools team.

Same problem, different (and unknown) solution
I had the exact same problem. The real play disc works, the copy just makes it tell me to put the play disc in. This only happened after i patched it with the normal built-in patcher. However, neither DaemonTools nor FantomCD fixed the problem. Does DaemonTools do its emulation protection to real drives as well as its virtual drives? If none of these things is the problem, there must be something wrong with the copy of the cd. Can anybody help me out?
