Can play Sims Hot date on my Sony CRX 140E

Hi,

I'm new to boards and I'm looking for help. I'm having such a hard time playing any new games on my Sony CRX 140E. I have firmware 1.0N and no New games like Max Payne or Sims Hot Date will play. They are ORIGINALS not even copies. They install fine but when I want to play them they just won't start. I tried these game on my Dell Laptop DVD-ROM and they work fine. I don't want to play these game on my laptop. Please someone help me? Do I need a new driver and where do I find it..
I'm sure it's that damn Safedisk 2 that's screwing things up. All the other software I have works fine I don't get this!!.

Thanks so much for anyone's help!!

Yes, your last sentewnce is correct. Infact last new safedisc2 protected games have an ATIP code that recognizes if you are running a game from a reader (cdrom) or a burner. Up to now there's no solution on that (for what I personally know), but they'll run fine from a normal cd reader.

Hope that this can help.

Hi,

Thanks for responding! I just tested out the game as well on my Aopen 16x IDE DVd-ROM
And it won't work in there either. I'm so lost.

Any tips? Should I burn a copy? And then unsafedisc it? I want to play this but I don't want to have to buy another Cd-Rom.

Thanks!

That's very strange....btw, check if your games run from a normal cdrom and if they do, consider the idea to get one...otherwise, one solution can be to burn a copy and unsafedisc it, as you said, or patch it with the one provided in GCW or at megagames (####://www.megagames.com).

Just unsafedisc it. I have the same drive as you and don't have that strange problem. What OS are you running?
