My apologies for being dim, but I've searched the site, and haven't been able to find some very basic answers.
I have a CD burner on my PC, and a PS. I want to make back ups of my games. Can I just copy them as I would, say, a music CD? I understand patches are needed for some games, and I understand how to get and use them, but do they all have patches? Also, does the PS need to be chipped? What does this achieve? Many thanks. Db |

What does the Mod Chip do to my Playstation? The Mod Chip is a programmed micro- processor
that allows your Playstation to skip a boot sector called the county code. The county code is different in each country and cannot be reproduced by a burner.and no not all games have to be patched just the ones with protection.for your setting it depends on what program you will be using to copy the games, clonecd and cdrwin are the best at doing this kind of stuff.for the settings go here http://www.psxcopyworld.co.uk you can also download both of them there.if you need more info let me know.

ps1 or ps2 . most psx2 games are dvd based and you need a dvd-rw to copy them ps1 on the other hand can be quite easly coppied using clone cd(best) or even nero .there is an alternative to a modchip called a bootdisc which you insert into your psx then put in your backup..this way you dont have to soilder a chip to your psx motherboard but a modchip is far better and easer to use once it is inserted(which you can do yourself)you will find many for sale online and if search you will find instructions on how to fix one to your psx

I agree, if you bothered to buy and install a modchip why would you bother making a boot cd? You wouldn't need it. My understanding was that it was a modchip alternative

well some boot disk will act like a game shark if you have a mod chip.so you will be able to enter cheat codes or anti mod codes.

well, the gameshark like thingie on my psxchange 2 bootdisk is gay. u have to put the codes in every time. so i dont even use it. And u dont need a chip for it to act as a game shark either. oh, is there a anti mod code for dino crisis so i dont get the big red X mod protection on a burned copy?
