Max Payne CloneCD issues...
Well, I think I may have read the CD to an image file. But when I checked the log file, I got all these "Unable to read sector 803" or whatever errors (sector number obviously changed, but all up, probably about 200 of them). I had that read-retry or whatever it is setting set to 5, but I don't know if the image file will burn properly. I have a Lite-On LTD163D DVD drive that I got the other day. I used it to read Max Payne, but I'm not sure if it can read that security thing that the new games have.
Does anybody know if that drive can read these types of CD's? I don't really need to copy Max Payne, but I'm just tinkering. Oh yeah, do PSX games have the same technology? Becuase on my burner (it's not here at the moment), it wouldn't read PSX games very well. |

The errors 800-10000 are normal - its the protection (Safedisk 2). It's more a matter of the writer being able to write it than the reader being able to read it - but a good enough reader is needed too. I would say your Lite on DVD would be able to read it ok, but it is more of a write issue.
PSX games have a different protection called Libcrypt - see PSX forum for more info.

Cool! Thanks for the help. Only one way to find out if it works I guess. If it don't work, oh well, one less 80min CD.
