I just read a review (for what it worth) by PC Mag. of a review of the new Plextor 12/10/40 vs. the Yamaha 12/10/40.
Even though the Yamaha has 8mb buffer vs. the Plextor's 2mb buffer; the Plextor STILL came out on top in performance (with their "burn-proof" technology) and that the Plextor was better made and faster.

Yamaha 16/10/40 with the new firmware 1.0n is much much better than new plextor
try on these two devices audiograbbing and you'll see the difference
or you can try error correction speed => yamaha is also better

at the end of audio cd I'm grabbing at speed 39 !!!

but I'm a little bit sad about Yamaha's missing burn-proof feature
