dvd copying

Is there any possible way to directly copy a dvd or dvd rom to a cd-r (if the dvd rom is the same size as da cd-r)

There is no such thing as a DVD that small or a CDR that big. You can encode your DVD with MPEG4, that takes about half a day and then burn it on a CD, and if your smart, you might even make it VCD.
