OFP update

Hi,
first i have to say i am a newbie ;-) i have currently ofp v 1.00 running, and i doenloaded the official patches from an ofp site, and i downloaded unsafedisc 2.4......can anyone explain me waht i have to do to get the patches applied? waht do i need? files? etc.. would be nice if anone can explain waht to do step by step :-)
