LG DVD/MP3 player

Just resently I purchased a LG DVD-3000P because it could play DVD/Audio/MP3. However, it dosn't play MP3's, well the seller believes it will but it must be a commercially produced CD's not a home burnt CD. Since then I have discovered the player will not play anything that is made on a homeburnt disk including audio CD's. In Australia there is no commercially available MP3's produced. What I would like is for this player to work with homeburnt CD's as I have backed up all my audio CD's to MP3 format which will give me a lot more playing time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
