Unsuccessful CD Copying... continuously

Hell-o everyone

I'm new to this board and rather new to copying / writing cd's.

I have quite an impressive arsenal of games, which many of my friends like to borrow. Until recently I had no problem with this... however, one of my more prized collections (Baldur's Gate 2) was damaged terribly. It looked like they tried to scrape their walls clean with it.

Anywayz, I am having so much trouble making a personal backup of these games so that I never have to lend out the original. I have tried 650 Meg, 700 Meg, Re-Writables and always fail.

CD Clone, Easy CD Copier and Direct CD. I can't make one successful copy. While they all say successful, I place the cd in the drive and nothing comes up. When you can turn it over and notice something was burned onto it, you can never read it.

Please tell me what program I should use and what cd?

(CD Burner = Acer 10x8x32)

Step nr 1)

##### which kind of CD copy protection the disc have. If you don't know, search for a crack for that game and the .nfo file will tell you. The .nfo file can be read in a nfo reader or simply by Wordpad.

Step nr 2)

If it is a new copy protection like SafeDisk v2 or something else horrible (!) CloneCD with a Philips CDR will do the job. You could try the BlindWrite copy program if your burner supports Disk At Once (DAO). Information can be found at www.blindwrite.com in the list of supported burners. Green color means "go ahead"!

Step nr 3)

Some protected cd bacups are only readable in the writer itself. If you try to read the cd in other drives it doesn't work for some reason, this is usually harware related (program in the CD writer's PROM).

Conclusion:
Why mess with one-2-one copying when it is easier to apply a crack and burn the cd as if it was normal unprotected data? The work around is easier, but some cracked files and patches might contain errors. Until you're familiar with what works for your CDR use CDRW disks and spend 2 weeks burning and testing. Good luck!

if you are having problems with never geting a cd burned correctly than either try burning it at a lower speed or like what happened with my first cd burner the cd burner might be messed up some how.
