Diablo 2 BNET

Hi, i was talking to a friend telling me he, in no possible way, get to BNET in Diablo 2 because his CD-ROM is a big piece of crap and is really old, he tried all possible patch from blizzard. I told him to install and click on the BNET button to see if it could at least update a BNET version to a new one and he can't do it. (Insert CD in CD-ROM drive) or something. I wonder if there is a way to get Diablo 2 to update from somewhere on the hard drive instead of going to BNET when you click the BNET button.. maybe a registry setting?? Can somebody help? Thanks

Hi,
try to download the offline update
####://www.blizzard.de/support/diablo2/information/patch.shtml
then you can update without bnet.
But the connection to bnet with a burned disc only works with bnet update.
So buy an original disc or don't play on bnet.
