mpg to vcd

Is it possible to convert mpg to vcd, as mpg won't play on my stand alone dvd player.

It is not so much the mpeg file that wont play it sounds more like the format in which the way the file is saved on the disc .Use nero to create an mpeg compliant disc capable of playing in a standalone unit
