how to burn ps2 games with gameshark

I just got the 3 way hotswitch installed it works just like the mod chip but i can not get any of my burned games to work i have gameshark 1.3 and the game will not boot i tried patching the games but i don't think that is for this situation shoud i just burn the games with cdrwin i need help
