US-PS2 with Modchip and gameshark2 cd-1 as boot still problems. Please help getting pi$$ed off
I have a PS2 with modchip installed and bought the Gameshark2 cd-1 to use as a boot disc for my US PS2. I copy games using CDRwin to my harddrive, then get the patch and apply it using PPFomatic, then burn it back to a CD-RW (RW so I can erase and try again) using CDRwin at 1X speed, but when I try to use the disc using the swaptrick it never loads the game. What am I doing wrong. I have tried with PS1 and PS2 games but no luck.
Please help!!!! |

The original PSX had no reason whatsoever to even recognise a rewritable, maybe the PS2 is the same.
The modchip wouldn't happen to be the one for Jap machine would it? |

No it is not the Jap version. It is the US version for my unit. I have also tried plain recordables with harvest moon for PS1 but with no luck.

ARE YOU USING THE NEO2 CHIP AND WHAT VERSION IS YOUR USA PS2..
THERE ARE 3 VERSIONS SO I WOULD CHECK YOU HAVE IT WIRED UP CORRECTLY FOR YOUR MACHINE CHECK OUT WWW.PLAYSTATIONMODS.COM THEY HAVE DIAGRAMS FOR ALL USA PS2 MACHINES... IT DOES WORK...SO ALL I CAN THINK OF IS YOU HAVE AN INSTALTION PROBLEM... ALSO YOU DONT NEED THE GAMESHARK BOOT DISK FOR PS1 GAMES ..YOU JUST PUT THEM IN AND BOOT THEM YOU ONLY NEED THE GAMESHARK DISK FOR PS2 TITLES..... |

I have successfully chipped my ps2. i know this because the games boot up using the gameshark 2 disc. but mine being the ntsc version 1(USA) not all the games boot up playstation mods.com claims that they all boot whitch is a bunch of crap as far as im conserned I really dont think they tested the american version throughly. For one they say for "PS2 EA sports games and others that wont boot-Hold the reset until AR2/GS2 menu and disc slows right down-let go swap disc (you have 4 seconds)" well on the american version it shuts off the PS2 before it slows down. I have tried this several times and it fails every time

with the pal ps2 there s anew way to do ps1 games as some dont seem to boot up normally use disc 2 and hold the reset button inthe same as for the E.A. boot for ps2 games then when u get to the menu telling u to swap disc, release and u have 4secs to swapto back-up

This question started ........I copy games using CDRwin to my harddrive, then get the patch and apply it using PPFomatic, then burn it back to a CD-RW (RW so I can erase and try again).......
Barbar you cannot produce a psx backup with a CDRW it must be a CDR nor rewritable. You end up with a few beer mat coasters to start with, but stick with it and read this forum for help etc. |
