How do I use PATCHES

I have downloaded the patch for Parasite Eve II in order to run my backup copy of the game on my playstation. My question is: what the hell do I do with the patch? Could someone please tell me how to use the patch?

get cdrwin and copy the disc to your hard drive. use ppfomatic and apply crack (very straight forward). then burn image back to cd.
