Boot Problems

I have 2 DC units. A new one bought a few months ago an will play everything.

A used one from Blockbuster will not play some games. It'll just go the default screen. Some games show up on the CD player part as no track but there is track time. Some games will take extra long to boot. It the laser dying and can't read mediocre burns?
