Upgrading fimware for Plextor 161040A
Hi there,
I have the Plex 161040A with Firmware 1.02 installed. Is it correct that upgrading the firmware is irriversible? If not how do I downgrade the upgrade? Also, is it correct that upgrading the CDR's firmware will allow it to back up SD2 protected CD's? Thank-you, LIOR |

hmmmm....I know (from my personal experience) that it's impossible to downgrade the firmware for the Plex 12/10/32TA under the 1.05 version or at least I haven't been able to do it....and really don't know if it's the same for your burner, but being the first firmware releases, it should be possible but I'm not totally sure of it...regarding the sd2 matter, for what I know you can make backups but you have to launch them from your burner....sd2 protection is more hardware oriented than software, so I don't think that a future firmware could fix the problem....and, for what I know, firmware updates are usually released to make the burner read cds better, but cannot modify the chipset.
I really hope that this has been in same way useful Robaerus |

Thank - you Robareus
Every info is useful of course.
Actually what you have said is what I kind of expected but did not want to hear. I also think that if another protection comes maybe SD3 who knows, then even the new Plex 2410, will not be able to cope with it. With SD2 , I heard that it can cope as of today. OK, anyone else with some info please drop you lines here: --------------------------------------------------------- Ciao, LIOR |
