PSOne or used PS 1. Which is easier to mod?
I am buying a new PlayStation. I see that I can use a "game enhancer" or a "plugmod" in the older models.
However, if I am buying a new set, I would be stuck with getting a PSOne which won't accept the plugmod. My main concern is using PAL backups/imports. I am in the US and my TV set supports only NTSC. I understand that I can patch the imported backup from Pal to NTSC. MY question.. Does using a game enhancer or a plugmod allows the console to output NTSC signal if a PAL game is used? I see in the specs for the plugmod that it supports PAL/NTSC. Does that mean that it works with either console or does it mean that it will give me an option to set the output format? Thanks |

I got the 1001 model with the I/O port in back for the plugin game enhancer which is nice. I would look for a good unit on ebay which you can get cheap then buy the game enhancer.

AlexTheMan, forget the idea of a plug mod, they are more trouble than they are worth..... especially with multi disc games..
Your best bet if getting a PSone is to have an internal mod chip fitted, but make sure that the chip is programmed with at least MMV3 hex or preferably something more recent. This will then allow you to boot games from any region. Any stealth chip should also do the trick. You wont get any hassel at all if its fitted correctly.
