HELP mod chip wanted

Here is the situation I have a brand new PS2 V5/V6 NTSC machine. I want to get a mod chip but my girlfriend paid for an extra 1 year warrenty when she bought the thing and I do not want to void a warrenty that I paid extra money for. What's the deal with the no solder mod chips? I hear they burn the laser or something like that.

Even the no solder mod chip voids your warranty. The only way to not void the warranty and play backups is to do the knife trick. But you might as well buy stilts for the bottom of your PS2 to make it into a coffee table.

Just return your PS2 to the shop you got it from to get your money back. In this case you can use your money to buy a PAL PS2 with a messiah in it so that you can play all games - all of the time. You wont need to worry about voiding your manufacurers warrenty - as it will already be null and VOID.

What is the knife trick and how do I do it? Or where can I find out how to do this? I figure I can do this and if I mess up my machine I can just take it back and get a new one until my warrenty is up and then I will get a mod chip.
