Question Newbie questions

Hey

I'm new around here and this is my first post.
My question is : Can I play original import game on my
psOne without using MOD chip ? I read about the bootdisks ,
but it doesn't say if you need it or not.
To be honest I got a (european)copy of Pro evolution soccer for
psOne , and I'm trying to make it play on my US psOne .
Is it possible without mod chip ?
If not I'll just have to stick with the emulator. Which brings another question.
I tried to extract that cd with cdrwin 5 and it won't do it.
It just does't do anything after I tried to extract that cd ,
no matter what I do. I need to this so I can change that game
from Pal to Ntsc and then play it on the emulator.
I'm using TV-Out and I wanted to play the game on the tv , but it's just won't let me since the game is in Pal.

does somebody have any suggestion

Actually I just used older version of cdrwin and it worked.
I'm still wondering about the first question though

The PS X-change 2 disk will let you play it on your PSone but you'll need to install a PVC tab, or a spring if you have and older model Playstation.
