Hi.

SD1/2 refers to Safedisc 1 & 2 - a couple of the most popular protection methods applied to commercial software.

It is alleged that some cd-writers & cd-roms can copy these protection systems and hence perform a 100% copy of a commercial cd. The only alternative is to get a "patched" version of the product that's had the protection system/s removed.

Some cd drives are better and faster at readnig certain protection systems - popular one's include the Plextor range, but you have to know exactly which model you're buying so that you're not dissapointed.

There are confilicting views on which cd drives can do the best job where SD1/2 are concerned - hence the popularity of forums like this!
