i/o errors

I have a Ricoh RW7083A burner and when I try and copy a few files (not a complete CD copy), I keep getting i/o errors; i/o error 02/00/00 in Adeptec and i/o error 5b/05/00/00 in Hotburn. I used Clone CD the other day to copy a complete CD and it worked fine. Have reinstalled Hotburn, Adaptec and Windows 98 but to no avail. The problem only appeared to happen after my other CD reader failed. Any suggestions please would be most helpful.

here is a good tip uninstall adaptec and throw disc in nearest bin then try to reinstall something a little more serious like discjuggler or nero perhaps even cdr win.I think this may solve all your probs
