The name of this program is .... "In your dreams".
Physically the DVD laser diode is not able to be fed with enough power to burn a DVD-R. There is enugh programmability in the PS2 architecture to use the USB cable for moving data to a PC. After all, the PS2 CPU is a standard MIPS processor and Linux kits are freely available, including BIOS calls.
