copy protection?

Hallo

I'm a newb here

Maybe a stupid question, but I don't no if the problems i'm having are because of copy protection or hardware problems.

When I,m trying to copy games like max payne, F1 2001, F1 racing championship, comanche 4 using the latest clone cd and cloney xxl or nero 5.5 the burning proces slows down extremely.
not even 1x so it wil take houres to burn.

I'm Having a lite-on 24-10-2b writer, asus 50x cd rom
amd 1600xp system

It doesn't matter if I:

Use the asus or lite on as reader
make an image or burn on the fly
enable or disable dma
use different media

can someone help me please?

Re: copy protection?

The slow down part is normal for games protected with Safedisc and Safedisc 2. A couple of the games you mentioned (Max Payne, C4) use this as their protection. I'm not sure what the other games use.
It will only be slow for about the first 3 or 4 percent of the read, then it will speed up once it gets past the errors. Just be patient with it, go eat a sandwich or a woman or something while it works. Or knock back a few cold ones while you wait.
With your LiteOn, you should be able to make perfect backups.
Be sure to use CloneCD as it will copy the games you mentioned. Nero isn't much use for copying protected games, but great for other purposes.
If you need help with CloneCD, check out the CloneCD forum over at forum.cdfreaks.com
