Renegade CD copy not read

Hello, I did not find a solution to this problem in other posts.

I have a copy of a copy of both Renegade CDs. When I try to play the game using "Renegade.exe" shortcut, the CD spins then stops, spins again, stops again, and I get "Insert correct CD" message. I get this message using both CDs.

This copy(Copy2) I use, is a copy of the first copy(Copy1) of the original CDs.
Copy1 was made using CloneCD.
Copy2 is a 1 to 1 copy of Copy1.
Copy2 CDs have both tmp files.

Copy1 and Copy2 CDs all work on two different Win XP systems.

Copy1 and Copy2 CDs do not work on my Win ME nor Win98 systems.
Win ME system has a Compaq DVD drive using default microsoft CD drivers.
Win98 system has an old CDR 4x2x24 drive using Win98 CD drivers.

I tried toggling "DMA" for the ME system DVD drive.

Anyone have an idea why these CD copies wont read correctly on my ME system but do read on XP systems? Thanks.

Question

I saw this XP CD error before but did not read the details of what microsoft said, so I did not think it could apply to me.

But now I see that this could be my problem.
Copy1 was made on a XP system.
Copy2 was not made using WinXP but is a copy of Copy1.

Can this XP error desribed at the link be the only reason why my CD copies do not read correctly using Win ME or 98?

The XP system is not mine so I don't know where to check this.
Tell me how to check if hide cdrmedia option it toggled,
then I will tell you if it is or not.

Can XP read these messed up CDs because of the hide cdrmedia option or is it due to the new XP CD drivers?

I thought setting hide CDR media didn't matter for non-CDR drives.

The ME sys does not have CloneCD installed, has DVD drive - CD doesn't read.

98 sys has old CDR drive, Hide CDR media checked - CD doesn't read.

One WinXP sys has CDR drive, CloneCD not even installed - CD reads fine.

Other XP system has CDR drive, I don't know about CloneCD settings - CD reads fine.

Is this a problem with CloneCD settings or the WinXP CD burn error?

Thanks, thats what I thought.

Is there any way to emulate WinXP so my CDs will read in ME, or can I use the XP CD driver on a ME system?

Anyone know why XP can read the CDs and not WinME?

Anyone that has XP can you tell me about the microsoft fix:
Does it fix WinXP's own burning program,
or does it fix a problem that is due to using WinXP and any burnig program?

Or can XP read the CDs because of XP's special (newer) CD drivers?
Can XP CD drivers work on WinME systems?
