Converted Burnout from PAL to NTSC...now what?

I have been reading up on "macrovision" and still don't know what this is exactly. I know it has something to do with the differnent signals put out by PAL or NTCS machines that run to your tv.
A little extra info would be nice before I try to explain it to a friend of mine. - cheers
