I downloaded this PS2 VCD/DivX player (v1.1) but I couldn't get it to work. I suspect (know?
) it's a fake, but I was just wondering if anyone has tried it...

As I suspected then...pity really, since playing DivX&VCD on the PS2 should be possible.. oh well

How should playing DIVX be possible using a software solution? A PC can emulate if PS2 had hardware upgrade either hard drive for emulation or DIVX encoder card if available then fine but software solution is not possible without some hardware backup.

Thats not true - all divx is, is a method of storing data to represent the motion/audio. If a CD could be burnt with the movie and decoder onboard there is no need for a hard drive or any other hardware. The problem lies in PS2 development although this is now underway since the PS2 linux kit became available, just a matter of time to see if somebody with a spare lunmp of cash can be bothere to code something for us.
