well the thing is I do not have a dvd burner so i will probably only be backing up CD-r games. so if i am only going to do CD-r is the plug and play no solder okay? my question tho is how many
(% wise) of PS2 games are dvd? Like what about popular ones liek resident evil code veronica and that samuri game where there r tons of animated movies and whatnot? can i assume all the good games are dvd and thus i will only be able to backup silly ones like bandacoot and whatnot? lol anyway your input is needed as i am about to order soem mod chip off the web and need to know what everyone thinks. o and does plug and play no solder damage or confluct with any aspect of ps2? thanx all

Actually, many dvd games can be ripped & copied, just takes a little more work. Resident evil code veronica is one of them it will take two disc for that one but it can be done. Check out www.gamecopyworld.com that's a good place to get started.

when you rip your dvd games though, you will have to downsample or completely remove some movies and audio. If you're willing to compromise that, then go ahead, otherwise get a dvd burner and make dvd-r backups.
other than that, the no-solder mod is not all that bad...swapping is a pain in the a$$ but if you're financially impaired, it's a good option. i have one and it's great. If your US NTSC ps2 is a v5 or a v6(5.1) i have no-solder chips available. Email me for details. Last edited by BigLos; 01-05-2002 at 09:50. |
