Arakon,
I checked all connections and they seem fine, I reseated all the ribbon cables and they look good too. I noticed that when I initially boots the PS2 this mechanic clicking sound appears - after resetting a couple of times the games, movies etc. loads correctly. When the clicking soung appears I can see the laser assembly moving towards the outside tracks on the dics, but then about 1 cm out from the middle of the dics it make the mechanic click sound and the moves back - this repeats itself a few times, and then the PS2 reports a dics read error. any other ideas ?? Also to be noted I did have some problems getting the solder to stick on the SCEX connection, when I use a multimeter to measure the resistance over it, it read outs 0 ohms, so the question is whether I have fried it out ??, but the PS2 boots ok so I don't know... Buffet
