DVD-R question

Can you use DVD-R on a cd burner(CD-RW). I'm wantting to copy a DVD but it wont fit on a CD-R and was wondering if you can use the 4.7GB DVD-R cds on a cd burner. I do not have a DVD burner.

DVDs arent cds, and vice versa. just because something fits in the slot, doesnt mean it's the same thing. being new to dvd ripping doesnt excuse the fact that you didn't research at all before posting your question. im going to stop now, because the urge to seriously flame you is building up again.
