The best software for......

Hmm i was also going to ask this same question but saw this post.

I will take a look at those sites but am wondering if anyone is willing to help a newbie to this at all??

All i know is where to go to download films but there are alot of rather poor or black screen downloads out there, not to mention the film renamed idiots too.

Would like to try making a divx/mpeg/avi etc file as i think i could do better than most as im really interested in trying this but everything seams to be a bit daunting to me so far (being a complete newbie anyways)

I find that BSplayer is the best to play movie files (a bit slow to load up but great) then comes mediaplayer then the Divx The player viewer. I have divx5 at present.
