Playing vcd's or svcd's in DVD player

I have a sony dvd player and I have some backed up dvd's that I want to make sure work in case I loose my current copy and when i put the backed up svcd in the sony it doesn't play. Is there anything I can do?

It also won't play on my laptop and I am using Interplay to play it. It works on my desktop but not on my laptop.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks.

hi m8....seems to me your vcd is not working because it's not been burned properly. did you make the vcd your self and does your sony play other vcd's ok. if it was burned correctly it would auto play with no help from u. maybe just clicking play on you dvd software.

I didn't get any errors when I burned the cue file. I used cdrwin and it seemed to work fine. It works on desktop but doesn't work on my laptop or dvd player.

u wont get any errors while you burn them. the files have to be in an image form so you can burn them into a vcd that a dvd can read. look at the video guide at www.mpegx.com "dvd to vcd"
it's all to complicated to explain right now.....
and have you ever used a working vcd on your sony before?
some dvd's just wont play them
