throw some hardware at us, tell us what drive you are using, etc. a friend of mine actually couldnt run civ3, it would flash like it was going to the splash screen, and then poop out. i think it was a graphics card not being up to snuff, or a screen res problem. anyways, throw some specs
and secondly, to the guy that suggested we use the deviance release, **** you, as getting the cracked exe would involved getting the pirated game.....which is not what we do here. cram that deviance iso where the sun isnt shining, eh?

podunkviller, the problem your buddy has with Civ3 sounds like my problem. I get a startup screen and then nothing. I'm sitting there in Windows. I have a GeForce2 MX with Detonator XP drivers, PII 400, and 128 RAM.
I really don't think it's my comp., since I can play the demo without flaw. The Administrator of the Freedom Force message board said it was a Safedisc issue and to try another CD-ROM. Unfortunately that's not an option right now. Thanks for all your help. |

Hey podunkviller... the only way getting the deviance release would be ILLEGAL is if you didnt own FF in the first place!! So for those of us who legally acquired FF getting the ISO isn't against the law dumb***.

did you try to use the emulation of the daemon? The first cd copies i made of the freedom force that would hang at the freedom force screen started to work when i used the emulation tool of the daemon, so you might wanna try that. If that doesn't work i think there could be a problem with your copy of the game, so you might wanna see if it works on someone else's pc.

success
Guys,
I've found a way to get the game working. There is a shortcut in the Freedom Force "system" folder called fforce.exe. Clicking this alone will make the game work, but it runs with bugs such as no voiceovers and inability to pick up cannisters, etc. The solution to this is to rename the main fforce.exe in the "Freedom Force" folder to fforce_old.exe. Then copy the fforce.exe in the "system" file and paste it in the "Freedom Foece" folder. I've just tried this and it seems to work. I'll post back if I encounter any bugs. Thanks to all you guys that tried to help, I appreciate it. |
