Its doing this because of Macrovision. This was designed to stop exactly what your trying to do - i.e. copy DVDs to VHS
There is a way round this depending on the set up you have - if you're playing the DVDs on your PC and have a TV out on your graphics card, you may be able to get 'fixed' DVD software whereby the macrovision is disabled If your using a stand alone DVD player, you can have a mod chip fitted which removes macrovision (generally this mod chip also makes the player region-free) http://www.techtronics.com is a good source of info on this subject, and they also sell stand alone DVD players (UK) LambChop |
