Hi Joni
methinks he's done it properly this time although I can't rule out his reasoning. If it was a v5 then as per our install guide I wouldn't have expected problems. Cheers

the wires in the install should always be as short as possible, apparently some ps2s have probs with some messiahs if the wires are too long. not all do, but better safe than sorry.

Arakon,
I always say keep the wires short but on the v3 it's plain impossible. Joni's wasn't a v3, but the v3s we've done with long wires have all worked once we got the laser right.

GND can be gotten anywhere on the board, it's all over. you can even use the large golden rim that runs around the entire MB.
that said, I got my messiah today as well from charlie and dust2dust, and it works perfectly in my V3. I used udma 100 wires to hook up the bios and cd controller pins, about 3 inches to the cd controller and 4 to the bios (top bios). I used normal IDE wire to connect reset, scex, GND and 3.3V. the soldering iron used was an Ersa 8W iron with a 0.4 mm tip. the install isn't hard if you got a steady hand and good eyes.. just takes patience.

Arakon, your 0.4mm tip is a bit brave! But you did it and congrats. It's a brilliant chip.

I installed my origa with a 1 mm tip :P
0.4 will do fine as long as you don't slip, you can rather easily center it on a pin and still have 0.1 mm on each side.
