really need help here
First, does anyone know anyway to convert sega rally 2 to 60hz
Second, How can i get a copy of sonic adventure 2 to work after i've repatched it with the latest echelon patch to fix everything. The version i have at present is the bug ridden hooligan version. Surely there has to be a way, perhaps hex editing to return the cdi to an unpatched version so if someone can tell or send me the original hex code for the bits that hooligans patched so i can return it to normal and start with a fresh version again that would be cool. Please help me someone! |

Send me your Email and I'll send you my Echelon's patched 1st_read.bin for Sonic 2.

So when I have the 1st_read.bin what should I do to get into a working backup. I've read that the echelon self-boot method is a bit dodgy for sonic adventure 2. Any suggestions?

For the record, I used Echelon's Self-Boot tutorial about a year ago to make a working bootable copy of Sonic Adventure 2. It can be done and it's done by the numbers. What I mean is, once you have done one self-boot using the manual method, they all are the same. This one (SA2) is no exception.

Did you get my e-mail address Megalexxx? Just incase you didn't it's rikhurdman********com so you can send me that 1st_read.bin file. Thanks a lot, really appreciate it!

O.K here's the deal,
I tried using Megalexxx's 1st_Read.bin file using the echelon selfboot method. When it told me to use the ip.bin I did not have the specific sonic 2 one so I just used one from another game which may have caused a problem. As I feared, the game booted as far as the sega screen and then just reset itself over and over. Would the wrong ip.bin have caused this or is it just my dreamcast. I bought it last summer but it has been able to boot all the selfboot copies I have tried so I doubt that is the problem. Any suggestions? |

Have you tried to check your files with the SFV I sent you ? Maybe there's another file I should send you.
I don't think the ip.bin is involved. If it was an ip.bin for a katana game (with 1st_read.bin) it should work. |

I read on other posts by Xeal that I should perhaps try to hack the some other bin files like the maigo.bin 2_dp.bin etc. and if this is not done it can cause the resetting once the sega screen comes up. Something to do with the protection. I'm going to give it a try.

Have you tried to check with the SFV file ???
Since I have all these other Bin files and my version works, you should first give it a try before burning anything... |

I've sent you an e-mail megalexx
The thing I said I was going to do failed. If anyone has had a problem like this with sonic adventure 2 and fixed it please post cause I really need help. Also if my original hooligans copy worked, why can't I just replace the 1st_read.bin with the echelon one and reburn as the echelon 1st_read.bin is surely patched with an ip.bin! |

1) you can use any ip.bin since it contains only a few information (name of 1st read file, areas, label, ...). The only thing you have to check is that the 1st read file is the right one and that "use S**A OS" is checked (use ipbin4win).
2) AFS, ADX and M1V files don't matter (they're only sound and video files), but I don't know what PRS files are... 3) I think your problem comes from maigo.bin, 2_dp.bin and sg_dpldr.bin files since I don't have them on my CD. I think they are files for internet (not sure). The one and only file I have in the root directory is 1ST_READ.BIN. Maybe you should try to burn Sonic 2 with only my 1st_read.bin in the root and all the other files in \Sonic2. I send you my PRS files (those that are different from mine). |

Thanks for the advice, I am going to try what you suggested.
I did read on some other posts about burning the audio track to 11700 as the sector number to bypass copy protection. I am burning the first sector to 11702. Would burning the shorter first session make any difference. I think I may try it. |

Aaarrrggghhh!
I am getting so annoyed with this! I replaced those files megalexxx sent me and reburned using 11700 as the sector number. Followed echelon tutorial exactly using an ip.bin with the "sega os" box checked in ipbin4win. But of course it didn't work, it just goes to the sega screen and reboots. WHY!. Perhaps I should just skip the binhack bit in the echelon tutorial as maybe the 1st_read.bin has already been hacked and rehacking it messes it up. Tell me what you think. I'm not giving up until I get this working! |
