Question PS2 v4

Charlie

Just read your reply for "Question for PSX2 Games Backup...". Extremely helpful, thanks.

I have read somewhere that a v4 PS2 has been protected against AR2. Is this true?

I have just purchased my PS2, I have a chipped PSX which I had no trouble backing up PSX games. I would like to backup my new PS2 games.

I will need to get a mod-chip installed, what is the best one for the job at the moment?

Also, is there more than one version of the AR2? If so again what is the best version to purchase.

Cheers

Depends on what Version your PS2 is, if its a v4 then a NEO 2.2 is a pretty safe bet for CDR & DVDR playing.Only problem is to play DVDR your going to need an AR2 version 1.9 & these are now near impossible to get hold of.
If its a V5 console then the new R Mod non solder modchip is looking the business (its near enough the only option at the moment for a V5)
Action Replay 2 V2 (the one common in shops at the moment) will boot cdr's on any version PS2 but not DVDR.Once you'veplayed a full version DVDR backup & compared it to a crappy CDR rip , believe me you're going to want to make sure you can play DVDR's on your PS2. Most of the newer titles ie.MGS2 ,SOULREAVER2,FINALFANTASY etc are never going to be available on CDR so keep your options open & make sure you get a system thats able to play both CDr & DVDR.

Kindly e-mail me through my profile on this forum.

On the AR2 question, the v4 PS2 is not insulated against AR2/1.9x. AR2/2.x is not designed to interact with the v4 PS2 so far as DVD-Rs are concerned. You can only buy AR2/2.x now.

The best mod-chip is the Messiah/CLone. No AR2 needed whatsoever. E-mail me.
