Because they spend their time "ripping" DVD games to CD by a complex process. Problem is that with games being 4.5GB, you just can't squeeze it down to a CD any more.
What they do is: 1 Remove all/most sound 2 Remove "unwanted" movies 3 Downsample wanted movies 4 Remove 'gatchas' such as DVD checks 5 Rebuild the game There are utilities for each of these tasks but you have to know the game thoroughly first otherwise you'll not know which movies are vital (like they are prizes that contain clues). People are now buying DVD writers.
